Petaluma Connections FAQs

What is this site?

It's a place to post your stuff to sell. Or to buy other people's stuff. Or to meet people. There's no charge to post anything or to browse the listings.

Why did we create this?

There are a ton of web sites to buy and sell stuff. Craigslist, anyone? eBay? etc., etc. This is for folks in and around Petaluma. Petaluma360.com is all about being local, and this is a place where you can see what local people are selling, buy stuff from them, trade it, share it or even use our personal ads. Sometimes it's better to buy and sell with folks who live around you. Less risk, less downside. Buying and selling locally builds community and is also good for the planet. And it's free.

How does it work?

Well, if you want to sell something, the first step is to create an account. It's easy. Click the "Login" link and select a user name and password. This is different from the user name you may have created for Petaluma360.com's forums. Once you're logged in, click the "Post a Listing" and then you can either choose whether you want to "post a listing of something to sell" or "post a personals ad." Once you do that, follow the easy steps of filling in the various fields, and you're done. Pick a category. Pick the community you're selling from. Pick a price (or not). Give the listing a title. Add more description in the box under Posting Description. There are lots of little buttons on that box if you want to make your listing bold, colorful, or otherwise creative. You can even click a button to add a photo.

How can I trust what I see being advertised?

Our hope is that hucksters and scam artists will stay on Craiglist and keep away from Petaluma Connections. That said, "let the buyer beware" is always a good rule.

I need to log in?

No way. If you want to sell something, you do. But if you just want to browse the listings or want to buy stuff, jump right in by clicking on the various categories. In each listing, you can contact the buyer directly by clicking on the "Contact this buyer" link and it'll send a note to the buyer. Some buyers will have other contact info listed in their item descriptions so that may work for you too.

I want to post something, but it doesn't fit in any category. What do I do?

You can place it under "General Merchandise."

I have free stuff I want to get rid of. Can this site help me?

You bet. Post it in the "Freebies" category. Your trash may be someone else's treasure, and all you may want is someone to haul it away.

Will I get spam or email from you guys because I'm listing my stuff on your site?

No way. No how.

I don't see any real estate ads, employment ads, or car ads. Why not?

Those are on other parts of our site that are devoted to those topics and have lots of features for people looking to buy or sell homes or cars, or find work.

OK. I've tried using the site and I'm still having issues. Who can I contact?

Email us at argus@arguscourier.com and we'll help you out.
